Our Principal

Who is Anthony McElligott?

Anthony is the Principal of Abramson Sci Academy (ASA). Before he began leading the school, he taught science for 12 years and was a teacher-leader for 5 years.

Leadership

In 2017, Anthony entered into Collegiate Academies’ School Leader Fellowship while continuing to teach science and coach other instructors. In 2019, he became Abramson Sci Academy’s principal in residence before officially assuming the role of Principal in 2020. As a school leader, Anthony is known for always finding new ways to challenge and engage all students.

Background

Anthony began his career in education in Louisiana where he taught at East St. John High School from 2008 through 2011. From there, Anthony joined the Sci Academy team where he grew his classroom practices rapidly. He became the first teacher in Collegiate Academies’ history to be recognized as a Featured Teacher twice! In 2013, Anthony assumed the role of Abramson Sci Academy’s sophomore dean of students. He later took on a leadership role at Collegiate Academies, guiding professional development for all science teachers across the network. After obtaining his Masters degree, Anthony also served as an Adjunct Professor for Relay Graduate School of Education. 

Education & Recognition

Anthony holds a BA in Economics  with a minor in Biochemistry from Carleton College. He received his Master’s in the Art of Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education in 2015.
